TTP223B Digital Touch Sensor

The TTP223 is a capacitive touch sensor that is commonly use in Arduino projects. TTP223 is a small, inexpensive sensor that can use to create a variety of touch-sensitive applications. The TTP223 sensor has a single touch sensing area of 11 x 10.5mm. When a finger or other conductive object touches the sensing area, the sensor will output a high signal. The sensor can configure to work in either active low or active high mode.

TTP223 sensor powered by a voltage of 3.3V to 5V. It has a very low power consumption of 1.5uA to 3.0uA. The sensor has a response time of 100ms to 220ms. The TTP223 sensor can use with a variety of microcontrollers, including the Arduino. There are a number of libraries available for the TTP223 sensor that make it easy to use with the Arduino.

The TTP223 capacitive touch sensor works on the principle of capacitance. Capacitance is the ability of a system to store an electric charge. When a finger or other conductive object touches the sensing area of the TTP223 sensor, it changes the capacitance of the sensor. This change in capacitance is detected by the sensor and is converted into a digital signal.

TTP223 sensor has two metal plates on the sensing area. When the sensor is not touched, the plates are separated by a dielectric material. The dielectric material is a material that does not conduct electricity. When a finger or other conductive object touches the sensing area, it bridges the gap between the two metal plates. This changes the capacitance of the sensor.

Features : –

The TTP223 sensor has a built-in amplifier that amplifies the change in capacitance. The amplified signal is then passed to the output pin of the sensor. The output pin of the sensor can configure to output a high signal or a low signal.

The TTP223 sensor has a number of features that make it a versatile and reliable touch sensor:

  • Low power consumption: The TTP223 consumes very little power, making it ideal for battery-powered applications.
  • Wide operating voltage: The TTP223 can operate from a voltage range of 2.0V to 5.5V, making it compatible with a wide range of microcontrollers and microprocessors.
  • Single-touch detection: The TTP223 can only detect a single touch at a time, making it ideal for applications where multiple touches are not required.
  • Sensitivity adjustment: The sensitivity of the TTP223 can be adjusted to accommodate different user preferences.

TTP223 Capacitive Touch Sensor Specifications : –

The TTP223 Capacitive Touch Sensor module can install such as plastic, glass surface non-metallic materials, in addition to the thin piece of paper (non-metallic) covering the surface of the module, as long as the touch of the correct position. you can make hidden in the wall, desk and other places button.

An onboard LED will give a visual indication of when the sensor is triggered. When triggered the output of the module will switch from its idle low state to high (default operation). Solder jumpers allow for reconfiguring its mode of operation to be either active low or toggle output.

Here are some of the technical specifications of the TTP223:

  • Operating voltage: 2.0V to 5.5V
  • Operating current: 1.5uA to 3.0uA
  • Response time: 100ms to 220ms
  • Sensitivity adjustment range: 0pF to 50pF
  • Dimensions: 5mm x 5mm x 1.5mm

TTP223 Capacitive Touch Sensor Pin Descriptions : –

The TTP223 capacitive touch sensor has 3 pins:

  • VCC: The VCC pin is the power supply pin. It should connect to a voltage source of 2.0V to 5.5V.
  • GND: The GND pin is the ground pin. It should connect to the ground of the power supply.
  • OUT: The OUT pin is the output pin. It will output a high signal when the sensor is touched and a low signal when the sensor is not touched.

The TTP223 sensor can configure to work in either active low or active high mode. In active low mode, the output pin will be low when the sensor touched and high when the sensor not touched. In active high mode, the output pin will be high when the sensor touched and low when the sensor not touched.

The TTP223 sensor also has two non-soldered adjustment pins:

  • A: The A pin is the sensitivity adjustment pin. It can use to adjust the sensitivity of the sensor.
  • B: The B pin is the sampling length adjustment pin. It can use to adjust the sampling length of the sensor.
